Jonathan makes his rosewood flute

Matt decided to run workshops to advance the craft in this country and teach people the most simple but traditional design of the plains style flute in a safe environment.
The venue is Matt’s Custom Built Flute Workshop located on a 35 acre bush property in the lovely Blackhorse Valley west of Kyogle NSW.
The workshops are all hands on, Matt instructs so you can perform every aspect of making your flute, if you are not confident at a particular step matt will assist and teach you so that you can be. What is taught will give you the confidence and skills to further teach yourself the craft so you can enjoy the art of flute making and creating your own flutes.
Matt is mostly self taught and has studied flutes under R. Carlos Nakai as well as Ken Light in Montana USA, and also was lucky enough to apprentice with Guillermo Martinez of Quetzalcoatl Flutes in California USA. He has also been guided by others in the industry of NAF Making.

“Part of my work is sharing what I have learnt, so I offer to teach you this craft. It is important that you have an interest in woodwork and craftwork, but only basic experience is necessary, so all are welcome”. Please email me if you are interested in booking a workshop. I try to suit your timing.
